A single cone of light over a table
Strip a factory pendant back to its simplest form and this is close to what you get: one wide angled shade, one lamp holder, one braided cord dropping from a round ceiling cup. Provence takes that plain industrial shape and finishes it properly, rather than leaving it looking like reclaimed salvage.
Old Bronze
The cone shade and fittings here are finished in Old Bronze, a dark, faintly warm metal tone with a matte surface rather than a shine. It keeps the lamp holder tucked up under the rim of the shade, so light is thrown down onto whatever sits below rather than out into the room.
The same cone shade appears across the wider Provence range in Aged Brass and Polished Nickel too, alongside a rise and fall version and a matching floor lamp, so it is straightforward to carry the same look from a kitchen through to a hallway or study.
How It Works
Provence hangs on a fixed length of braided flex from a compact ceiling rose, dropping a focused pool of light straight down rather than spreading it around the room. There is no dimmer switch built into the fitting itself, though it will dim if you fit a dimmable E27 bulb and wire it to a dimmer circuit.
Where It Works Best
It earns its keep hung low over a kitchen island or a dining table, particularly as a row of two or three rather than a single central light. It also works well on its own over a small side table or breakfast bar, anywhere you want a defined pool of light rather than general room lighting.

Can I hang more than one Provence pendant together? Yes. Because the drop is adjustable between 28cm and 200cm, several can be hung in a line at matching heights over a kitchen island or a long dining table.
Does the Provence pendant come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the exact colour temperature and brightness you want.
Is the Provence pendant dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb and connect it to a dimmer switch. The fitting itself has no built in dimmer.
