Portofino hangs at a slight downward angle off its wall bracket, as though it has been fixed with intent rather than left perfectly level. The glass is a rounded jar shape rather than a smooth teardrop, and the fixing screws on the bracket are left visible, giving it a workmanlike character next to more polished decorative lanterns.

Grey powder coat, clear glass

The body is 304 grade stainless steel, finished in a flat grey powder coat that reads more charcoal than silver in most light. Paired with it is a clear glass jar shade with no tint or texture, so the bulb inside sits fully on show rather than diffused behind frosted glass.

How It Works

Portofino takes a single E27 bulb, wired through Class I electrics with an earthed connection. Fit a dimmable bulb and the lantern will dim with it on a compatible circuit, fit a standard bulb and it simply switches on and off. The bulb itself is not included, so you can choose whichever colour temperature and light output suits the space.

Rated IP44, Portofino copes well with rain and damp air, so it suits front doors, side gates, and runs of matching lanterns along a garden wall or fence. It projects further from the wall than most small lanterns, at 24.7cm deep against a width of just 10cm, so it is worth leaving clearance from door frames, steps, or anything you would walk past close to the wall.
