This small single picture light throws a warm pool of light down over whatever is hanging below it, from a favourite print to a mirror, using a shade and arm shape Elstead has kept much the same across the whole range. Cast in a bright polished chrome, it reads noticeably cooler and crisper than the range's brass and bronze options.

The steel shade, curved arm and square backplate all share the same bright, almost mirror like chrome plating, so the whole fitting reads as one continuous cool tone rather than a mix of parts. The backplate carries a pressed fan pattern radiating out from its centre, a detail used across the rest of Elstead's picture light range, and every joint down to the small wing nut is finished to match.

How It Works

A single bulb sits inside the cylindrical steel shade and throws its light forward and down onto the wall below. The wire wrapped arm has an adjustable ball joint held in place by a small wing nut, so once the light is fixed to the wall you can loosen the nut, angle the shade to the exact spot you want lit, then tighten it back up. It takes one E14 bulb, which isn't supplied, so you can choose the brightness and warmth that suits the room.

Where It Works Best

Its cooler tone suits contemporary rooms, black and white photography, and frames finished in chrome or nickel rather than gold, though it works just as well as a plain, understated picture light in almost any setting. Hang it above a favourite print in a hallway or living room, use it to light a mirror in an entrance, or fix it over a framed piece above a desk in a home office.
