A picture like this deserves its own light rather than whatever spills across it from the ceiling. This small single picture light from Elstead sits above a frame on a curved arm and sends a controlled line of light straight down the artwork, leaving the wall around it in shadow.

Finish

Steel is shaped into a slim cylindrical shade and a curved arm, then plated in polished brass, the brightest and most reflective finish in the range. It has a warm, mirror bright gold shine rather than the softer tone of a brushed or aged finish, and it suits gilt frames, brass door furniture and traditional rooms particularly well. The square wall plate carries a crisp fan pattern pressed into the metal, a small period detail that echoes older picture lights.

How it works

A single E14 bulb sits inside the cylindrical shade, lighting downward along its length rather than out into the room. The arm has a wire wrapped section and an adjustable knuckle joint held with a small wing nut, so once the light is fitted the angle can be set precisely and left in place. As with any mains wired fitting, we recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Does this picture light come with a bulb? No. It takes one E14 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature that suits your artwork.

Is the Picture Light Single Small dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E14 bulb. A bulb that isn't dimmable won't respond to a dimmer switch.

Can the angle of the light be adjusted? Yes. The arm has a knuckle joint held by a small wing nut, so the shade can be angled once it's fitted and left set in place.
