This small single arm picture light is designed to throw a clean line of light down onto a single frame, or a modest run of two or three, without becoming a feature in its own right. The slim cylindrical shade sits just above the artwork on a shaped arm, casting its light forward and down rather than out into the room.

Dark Bronze finish

Finished in Dark Bronze, the steel takes on a deep, almost black bronze tone with warmer brown highlights breaking through wherever the surface catches the light. It reads as an aged, slightly antiqued metal rather than a flat modern black, which is why it sits comfortably against traditional frames, dark paint and wood tones. The square backplate carries a pressed fan pattern that echoes the rest of Elstead's picture light range.

How it works

A single E14 LED bulb sits inside the cylindrical shade, aimed forward and down so the light lands on the wall beneath rather than spreading around the room. The shade is held on a wire wrapped arm that connects to the backplate through an adjustable joint locked with a small wing nut, so you can loosen it, tilt the shade to the angle you want, then tighten it back up once the beam sits squarely on the picture below.

Where it works best

It suits a single framed picture, or a tight cluster of two or three, in rooms with darker walls or more traditional decor, a study lined with prints, a hallway of family photographs, or a dining room with one statement piece above the sideboard. Because the beam is directional rather than a wide wash, it's better suited to lighting one focal point than an entire gallery wall.

What bulb does this picture light take? It takes a single E14 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature that suits the artwork underneath.

Can I angle the shade once it's fitted? Yes. The arm holding the shade is fixed with a wing nut joint, so you can loosen it, tilt the shade up or down, and tighten it again once the light lands on the picture the way you want.

Is it dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E14 bulb. A standard bulb won't dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.

How far does the shade sit from the wall? The adjustable arm lets it reach different distances from the wall depending on the angle, with a maximum projection of around 20cm when it's extended furthest.
