A light with a bit of shine

Polished brass is the finish for a picture light that is happy to be noticed. It has a bright, mirror like gleam rather than the softer brushed brass tone, so it works best where the rest of the room's metalwork, door furniture, mirror frames, curtain poles, is already leaning gold.

The mechanism

An arched arm lifts the shade clear of the frame below and holds two E14 lamp holders angled down at the artwork. A thumbscrew on the arm lets you set the tilt once and forget it, so the light stays trained on the picture rather than spilling up the wall.

Best suited to

A gilt framed portrait, a large mirror in a hallway, or a run of prints in a dining room; anywhere a warm shine adds to the display rather than fighting it.

Good company

It is built to the same pattern as the rest of Elstead's picture light range, so if a room already has other finishes in play, or you are lighting a second piece elsewhere in the house, the proportions and mechanism stay identical, just the plating changes.
