The cylindrical shade and curved arm are finished in a matte dark bronze with subtle brushed streaking, so the metal catches light unevenly rather than throwing back a shine. The square backplate carries a pressed diamond pattern rather than a plain flat face, and the arm narrows to a threaded collar where it meets the shade, small details that mark this out as a proper picture light rather than a repurposed spotlight.

How it works

The shade holds two E14 lamp holders and hangs from a curved arm on a knurled thumbscrew joint. Loosen the thumbscrew, tilt the shade to the angle you want, then tighten it again; that's the whole process, and it means the same fitting works for a painting hung slightly high or a mirror set lower. This is a wired fitting rather than a plug in lamp, so we'd always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Try it over a dark framed painting in a hallway, along a run of botanical prints in a dining room or living room, or above a desk in a home office where you want reading light without a lamp taking up surface space. Because the shade tilts independently of the backplate, it also suits artwork hung slightly off centre from where the wall fixing needs to sit.

What bulbs does this picture light take? It takes two E14 LED bulbs, which aren't included, so you can choose the exact brightness and colour temperature you want.

Can I angle the shade to suit where my picture is hung? Yes. The shade is held on a thumbscrew joint, so you loosen it, tilt the shade to the angle you need, then tighten it again to hold that position.

Is this picture light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. A non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even on a dimmable circuit.
