Elstead Philadelphia Single Small Wall Up Lantern - Old Bronze

An upright lantern for a tight spot

This small Philadelphia lantern faces upward, so the scroll bracket sweeps down and under the shade before curling back on itself, and a slim finial takes the place of the usual hanging hook on top. It's a neat, upright fitting that suits a doorway or window bay where a full sized carriage lantern would feel too heavy.

Old bronze finish

The cast body carries the same shell and acanthus leaf detailing as the rest of the Philadelphia range, in a dark old bronze that picks up a coppery highlight along its raised edges. The wavy blown glass panels have an amber tint, so even before a bulb is lit the lantern reads as warm rather than cold. It settles well against brick, stone or render without looking too ornate.

How It Works

A single E27 lamp sits inside the amber tinted glass, and the fitting is LED compatible so it can run on a low energy bulb. Because this version points upward, light spills onto the wall above and around it rather than down onto a step or path, giving a gentle wash rather than a spot to see your keys by. It's a Class I fitting wired directly into the mains, so we always recommend a qualified electrician handles installation. The bulb itself isn't included.

Where It Works Best

This size works well either side of a small front door, in a narrow porch, or anywhere you want a touch of period detail without a large fitting dominating the wall.
