A lantern that makes an entrance feel finished
The Philadelphia wall lantern has the kind of presence that makes a front door look complete rather than merely lit. A deep, urn shaped shade sits inside a curling scroll arm that lifts it well clear of the wall, giving the whole fitting an old world silhouette that looks like it has always been there.
Old bronze, cast with real detail
The finish is a rich, dark old bronze over cast metal, with raised shells, scrolls and acanthus leaf detailing worked into the crown and backplate. Wavy, hand blown glass panels wrap the shade, their surface gently rippled rather than flat, so the light inside breaks up into soft movement rather than a single hard beam. The bronze tone reads well against brick, render, stone or timber cladding, and settles further with a little weathering outdoors over time.
How It Works
A single E27 LED lamp holder sits inside the glass chamber; the bulb itself isn't included, so you can choose the warmth and brightness to suit your doorway. The amber tinted, textured glass diffuses the bulb rather than showing it directly, casting a soft pool of light down and outward across a step or path. It's a Class I fitting, so it needs a proper earth connection, and it's dimmable if you fit a dimmable LED bulb.
Where It Works Best
This size suits either side of a front door, flanking a porch, on a garage wall or marking the start of a driveway. It's substantial enough to hold its own without overwhelming a smaller facade, and reads equally well on a period cottage or Victorian terrace as it does on a newer build with some traditional detailing. Rated IP44, it's built to handle an exposed exterior wall in all weather.
