A lantern that lights your feet, not your eyes
Some outdoor lights blaze straight out at head height and leave the step below in shadow. The Parish Single Down Wall Lantern does the opposite. It hangs from a shaped arm and throws its light downward through six glazed panels, so you can actually see the step, the keyhole and whoever is stood on your porch after dark, without a glare in your face as you fumble for your keys.
Die cast aluminium in matte black
This version is cast in die cast aluminium and finished in a deep matte black rather than a gloss or powder sheen, which keeps the traditional lantern shape from looking too shiny against brick, render or stone. Clear glass panels wrap the lantern head on every side, so the light spreads out rather than staying trapped behind a single pane.
How It Works
A shaped bracket fixes to the wall and the lantern head hangs from it, angled so light falls naturally down and out instead of up into your eyes. It takes a single E27 lamp, which is not included, and if you fit a dimmable bulb the fitting will respond to a dimmer switch too.
Where It Works Best
Front doors, side entrances and garden gates all suit this shape well, particularly on period or cottage style houses where a plain bulkhead would look out of place. Fit a pair either side of a porch for a bit of symmetry, or use a single lantern to mark a side gate or garden entrance. It carries an IP44 rating, so it is built to cope with direct rain and damp outdoor conditions rather than needing a sheltered spot.

Parish comes from Elstead Lighting, a British lighting group and distributor whose name traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which is still led by the Lucas family today. Is the Parish wall lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It is IP44 rated, which means it is built to withstand direct rain and general outdoor weather, making it suitable for porches, doorways and garden walls.
What bulb does the Parish lantern take? It takes a single E27 lamp. We recommend an E27 LED bulb, which is not included, so you will need to fit one before use.
Can I dim this wall lantern? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch even if the circuit itself supports one.
