Elstead Ottoman Single Table Lamp - Bronze

A darker take on the same idea

This is the Ottoman lamp with everything turned a shade moodier. The same crackled bronze metallic glaze covers the rounded porcelain base, but here it's paired with a brown shade rather than a pale one, so the whole piece sits closer together in tone from top to bottom.

What the finish looks like up close

The bronze glaze has a fine network of crackle lines running across it, visible wherever the light catches the curve, giving it a slightly aged, handmade look even though it's a glaze effect rather than texture you can feel. Above it, the empire shaped shade is brown on the outside with a gold lining inside, which reflects warm light back down rather than a flat white glow, and there's a small brass finial on top to finish it.

How it works

One E27 bulb sits in the neck, so the main light comes from the shade itself, warmed further by that gold lining. The circuit takes dimmable bulbs, so you can bring the light down for evenings rather than running it at full brightness throughout.

Where it works best

Standing 71cm tall with a 46cm shade, it needs a surface with some presence to it, a console table, sideboard or a large bedside table rather than anything narrow. It's suited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways.

Does the Ottoman table lamp come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the warmth and dimming behaviour that suits the room.

Is this lamp dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even on a dimmable circuit.
