Orb, in its plainest form

Take away the brass and the coloured shade and you're left with this: a clear glass orb on a brushed nickel base, paired with a soft cream drum shade. It's the simplest reading of the Orb shape, and there's something satisfying about how much of it is just glass and light.

Glass and brushed nickel, nothing else

The bulbous glass body has almost no colour of its own, so the cream shade above tends to reflect down into it, warming the glass rather than a white shade would. Brushed nickel finishes the neck, the stem and the circular foot, along with a small ball finial, keeping the metalwork understated next to all that glass.

How it works

A single E27 fitting sits inside the neck, so the light glows through the glass base before the drum shade takes over and spreads it outward into the room. Fit a dimmable LED bulb and the circuit will respond to it, so you can take the light right down to a low evening glow.

Where it works best

At around 67cm tall with a 36cm shade, it reads as a proper table lamp rather than a small accent piece, so it earns its place on a console, sideboard or a generous bedside table. Living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways all suit it.

Does the Orb table lamp come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the LED you prefer.
