A simpler take on the coach lantern
The Old Bailey single wall lantern strips the traditional coach lantern back to its essentials. In place of the diamond leaded glass most lanterns in this style use, it's fitted with flat, clear panes, so the single bulb inside lights a porch or doorway directly rather than scattering through patterned glass.
Solid brass, aged to a warm tone
The frame, stepped cap and chimney like top are all cast in solid brass, then finished in an aged tone rather than a bright polish. It already carries the soft, warm colour of brass that has been outside a while, which suits a period influenced design like this and only deepens further with time and weather.
How It Works
Fit one E27 bulb, ideally a dimmable LED, and have the lantern wired in by a registered electrician since it connects directly to the mains rather than plugging in. Rated IP44, it's built to cope with driving rain and standing outside in all weather, not just a covered spot. It arrives mostly assembled, though the flat glass panels will likely need settling into the frame before you hang it.
