The lantern that swings out from the wall
This is the wall mounted member of the Miners family, fixed to a round backplate edged with a rope pattern rim and reaching out on a curved bracket so the lantern hangs just clear of the wall. Underneath, the same crossed wire guard wraps around a tapered, seeded glass shade with a domed cap above it.
The Old Bronze finish is dark and a little uneven across its surface, giving the impression of metal with years behind it, and it sits nicely against the clear, bubbled glass.
How it works
Fit a single E27 bulb inside and the light spills out through the seeded glass rather than in a single direct beam. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs to be properly earthed, and it will dim if you use a dimmable bulb.
Where it works best
Either side of a front door, along a boundary wall, at the entrance to a courtyard or beside a garage, this wall lantern earns its place wherever you want a bit of old fashioned character alongside practical light. Rated IP44, it is built to be out in the weather.

The Miners range takes its name and its silhouette from the portable lamps once carried by hand, and Elstead has kept that shape going in wall, pedestal and pendant versions from its Hampshire base. It works well as a pair either side of a doorway, or on its own where a single light is enough.
