A lantern with a working past
Long before electric light, miners carried lanterns close to this shape underground: a tapered glass shade held inside a crossed wire guard, topped with a domed cap and swung from a curved handle. This chain hung pendant borrows that silhouette almost unchanged, giving it a lived in, purposeful look that a plain glass globe or drum shade can't quite manage. Hang it at a porch, a covered walkway or the top of a garden path and it reads as a fitting with a story, not just a light.
Old Bronze finish
The frame and cap are steel, finished in a deep, textured Old Bronze that catches unevenly along its ridges and edges, close to the look of metal that has weathered outdoors for years without any of the actual corrosion. Inside the wire guard, the glass shade is genuinely seeded, full of small trapped bubbles that scatter light rather than throwing it in one hard beam, so the fitting glows rather than glares.
How It Works
The lantern hangs from a length of chain that can be shortened or lengthened on installation, giving a drop of anywhere between 45.5cm and 156cm depending on how low you want it to sit. Inside, a single E27 lamp holder takes an E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose whatever warmth and brightness suits the spot. It's wired to Class I and needs to be properly earthed, so we'd always recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.

Rated IP44, this lantern is built for outdoor use in a position that's covered but still open to the weather: a porch, an entrance canopy, the eaves of a converted barn or a garden building. Its scale and drop range make it equally at home hung low over a door as a statement piece, or higher along a covered walkway where several might be spaced out in a row.
