The Mansion House takes its shape from old ecclesiastical lanterns, all sharp angles rising to a domed cap pierced with neat rows of holes that let light escape in patterns rather than a single flat glow. Despite the traditional look, what sits behind the glass is a single modern LED lamp rather than a candle or gas mantle.

Verdigris finish

This version is finished in verdigris, the pale green patina that solid brass develops naturally over years spent outdoors. Elstead applies the finish to the metal before it leaves the factory, so the aged look is there from the day it's fitted rather than something you wait for the weather to create. The four glass panels are clear and bevelled, keeping the light bright and visible from the street rather than diffusing it behind tinted or textured glass.

How It Works

One E27 lamp holder sits behind the glass, ready to take an LED lamp of your choosing (the bulb itself isn't included). The fitting is wired to Class I, meaning it needs an earth connection, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Fit a dimmable LED bulb and the lantern will dim on a compatible switch; with a standard, non dimmable bulb it will simply switch on and off.

Mansion House suits porches, front doors and anywhere with a bit of period character to play up. Its IP44 rating means it's built for an exposed exterior wall, and the verdigris finish is designed to look weathered rather than hide it, so coastal spots and other exposed positions suit it particularly well.
