A tidy cylinder of light for the outside wall

Magnus keeps things simple: a solid cylinder of cast aluminium, fixed flush against the wall, with a narrow band of clear glass low down where the light escapes. There's no ornament to it, just a confident, architectural shape that reads as well beside a modern front door as it does along a run of garden wall.

Finished in graphite

This version is finished in a deep graphite that sits closer to charcoal than true black, with enough texture in the paint to catch a little daylight without ever looking shiny. Against pale render or brick it recedes into the wall by day and lets the glass band do the talking once it's switched on.

How It Works

A single 9W GX53 LED bulb sits inside the fitting, shining down through the clear glass band rather than out to the sides, so you get a defined pool of light on the ground rather than a wide wash up the wall. The bulb itself isn't supplied, and if you fit a dimmable GX53 the Magnus will dim on a compatible circuit. It's wired to Class I, so it needs an earthed supply and installation by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its compact footprint and downward throw suit porches, garage walls and the brickwork beside a front door, where you want a clear marker of light rather than a floodlit approach. It's equally at home spaced along a garden wall or boundary, guiding a path without spilling glare into neighbouring windows.

Is the Magnus wall light suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP44, which covers exposure to rain and damp, making it suitable for porches, garages and garden walls.

Does the Magnus wall light come with a bulb? No. It takes a single 9W GX53 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to fit one before use.

Is the Magnus wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as the GX53 bulb fitted is itself dimmable and the fitting is wired to a compatible dimmer switch. A standard bulb that isn't dimmable won't dim even on a dimmer circuit.

Does the Magnus wall light shine upward as well as down? No. It's a single downlighter, throwing light through the clear glass band at its base rather than upward or to the sides, giving a defined pool of light below the fitting.
