The Lambeth Palace half lantern is finished in verdigris, the blue green patina that brass and copper develop naturally outdoors, so it reads like a fitting that has already spent years by the door. Elstead pairs that aged colouring with a pierced fretwork crown and a glazed, hinged front, giving the shape the look of a traditional coach lantern rather than something newly made.
Verdigris finish
Underneath the colour the body is solid brass, worked into mottled greens with darker shadowing rather than one flat tone, since that variation is what makes a verdigris finish convincing. The fretwork cross pattern cut into the crown picks up the shift in colour particularly well, and clear glass panels run across the front and sides so the finish stays on show even once the lantern is lit.
How It Works
A single E27 lamp holder sits inside, designed for an LED E27 bulb which isn't included so you can choose your own brightness and colour temperature. Fit a dimmable bulb and the lantern will respond to a compatible dimmer switch. The front glass panel is hinged, so it opens on demand for access to the lamp holder whenever a bulb needs changing.

The greened brass and fretwork detailing suit cottages, coastal properties and anywhere with existing period character, since the tones sit comfortably against stone, render or aged brick. It works well either side of a front door or garden gate, where a matching pair reinforces the effect, and equally at home lighting a side entrance or garden wall.
