Silver, stainless steel finish

The swan neck arm, backplate and wide flat cap are made from 304 grade stainless steel, powder coated in a bright silver grey with a slightly nautical, industrial look that suits render, stone or anywhere chrome and steel details already feature. Underneath, a clear glass shade with a faintly seeded texture lets the bulb show through rather than diffusing it.

How It Works

A PIR motion sensor sits in the lower half of the round wall backplate, its small lens visible alongside the fixing screw. It picks up movement within range and switches the light on automatically, then off again once the area has been quiet for a while. Inside the shade sits a single E27 LED lamp holder, dimmable if you fit a dimmable bulb, wired on a Class I connection.

Where It Works Best

Because it lights itself, the Klampenborg PIR suits spots you don't pass every day, a side gate, a garden door, the walk round to a bin store, anywhere a light left permanently on would be wasteful but one that's off when you need it is worse. The 42cm arm still projects the lantern well clear of the wall, so light falls on the path in front of you rather than just the brickwork behind it.

Is the Klampenborg PIR wall lantern suitable for full outdoor exposure? Yes. It's IP44 rated and built from powder coated stainless steel, so it's designed to sit on an exterior wall exposed to rain.

How does the built in motion sensor work? A PIR sensor set into the lower half of the wall backplate detects movement nearby and switches the lantern on automatically, then turns it off again once the area has been quiet for a while.

Is this wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb won't dim even on a dimmer circuit.
