The Klampenborg wall lantern has that long curved arm you see on old harbourside lighting, sweeping out from a simple round wall plate before dropping down into a wide flat cap. Underneath sits a rounded glass shade, more bell jar than box, that leaves the bulb fully visible.

This version comes in matte black, a finish that suits brick, render and painted timber equally well and tends to disappear into the wall by day so the fitting reads as pure shape rather than a block of colour.

How it works

It's built from 304 grade stainless steel with a powder coated finish, so the black stays black through wet winters rather than fading or streaking. The glass is clear, taking a single E27 bulb (dimmable if you choose dimmable lamps) on a standard Class I connection.

Where it works best

The long reach of the arm holds the lantern well clear of the wall, which makes it a natural fit either side of a front door or along a run of garage or outbuilding wall where you want the light thrown forward rather than straight down. It also suits porches with some depth, since the swan neck gives the shade room to hang properly rather than sitting flush.
