The Klampenborg has the classic silhouette of a Scandinavian barn light, a curved arm reaching out from the wall to a flat tilted shade over a rounded glass shroud, but this version swaps the usual black or white for a deep navy blue. It's the same practical shape, just with more personality, good for a front door or porch that could do with a bit of colour without shouting about it.

The lantern is built from 304 grade stainless steel and powder coated in a matte navy blue that covers the arm, wall plate and shade in one continuous colour, so it reads as a single considered piece rather than a black fitting with a coloured shade bolted on. The clear glass shroud around the bulb is left uncoated, letting the light show through cleanly against the dark paintwork.

How It Works

A single E27 bulb sits inside the glass shroud, shielded from above and the sides by the flat shade so the light is thrown mostly downward and outward rather than glaring upward at a bedroom window. Fit a dimmable E27 bulb and it will work on a dimmer circuit if you want to turn the light down for the evening. The bulb itself isn't included, so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits the spot it's going.

Where It Works Best

The swan neck profile and generous 42cm projection make it well suited to a porch, a garage wall, or either side of a back door, where the extra reach keeps the light away from the wall surface. The navy tone sits particularly well against pale render, brick or cladding, on the kind of newer build where flat black can look a little heavy.
