One lantern, two ways to fit it

This Kinsale lantern earns the double barrelled name honestly: the same six sided head with its bevelled glass and pointed finial can be set on a short pedestal foot for a path or gate post, or mounted flush against a porch ceiling to hang straight down over a doorway. Which one you end up with comes down to how it is fitted rather than any difference in the lantern itself.

Finished in black, built from a polymer body with polycarbonate glazing rather than metal and real glass, so it copes with being rained on for years without the corrosion you would eventually see on a traditional cast fitting.

How it works

A single E27 lamp holder sits inside, wired to Class II standard so no earth connection is needed. Fitted as a pedestal it stands about 51cm tall and 23cm wide, low enough to flank a doorway without blocking the view; fitted to a ceiling it hangs at the same scale, pointing straight down onto the step below.

Where it works best

Use the pedestal version to line a path, mark a gate post or sit either side of a porch step, and the ceiling version where you want that same look recessed into a covered porch instead. Either way it is built to shrug off wind and rain in an exposed spot.
