Elstead Jens Small LED Up & Down Wall Light - Black

A sculptural glow for contemporary exteriors

The Jens has the look of a piece of architecture rather than a light fitting: a slim, rounded slab with a single glowing strip cut along its top edge. It sits close to the wall and reads as a clean geometric shadow by day, then softens the brickwork or render with a linear wash of light after dark.

Finished in black

This version is finished in a deep matte black, cast in die cast aluminium with a polycarbonate lens running the length of the curved top. The dark housing recedes against most facades, leaving the lit strip as the only thing the eye catches.

How It Works

The 6W LED is built in and rated at 680 lumens, so there are no lamps to source or replace. A small switch inside the housing lets you choose between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K, so the tone can be tuned to warm, neutral or cooler white depending on the rest of your exterior lighting. An IP65 rating means the sealed housing copes with driving rain as well as everyday damp.

Where It Works Best

Its flat, minimal profile suits modern new builds, render finished walls and contemporary extensions best, though it works equally well flanking a garage, marking a side entrance or lighting a run of garden wall where a fussier lantern would look out of place. The IP65 rating means it can go anywhere outside, including spots with no cover from the weather.

Part of the Elstead Range

Elstead is better known for its traditional lanterns and country house style fittings, but ranges like Jens show the same attention to finish carried into a completely modern idiom.

Questions People Ask

Can the Jens wall light be fitted somewhere fully exposed to the weather? Yes. It's rated IP65, which covers full exposure to rain and damp, so it's suitable for an unsheltered exterior wall.

Can the bulb in the Jens be replaced? No. The LED is built into the fitting rather than fitted as a separate lamp, so there's nothing to swap out, but there are also no bulbs to source or replace over its lifetime.

Can I change the colour temperature after it's installed? Yes. A small switch inside the housing lets you pick between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K, so you can match it to warmer or cooler lighting elsewhere on the exterior.

Is the Jens wall light dimmable? No, this fitting is not dimmable, so it runs at a fixed brightness of 680 lumens at whichever colour temperature you select.
