Take the shade off the Isla and you would still have a good looking lamp: a glossy white ceramic double gourd base with a pinched waist, sitting on a foot and collar finished in aged brass. Put the shade back on and this version settles into a soft sage green, a calmer, more muted choice than its cranberry, pink or purple siblings.

The shade is a tapered drum in faux silk, woven with the faint slubbed texture typical of the fabric rather than a flat, printed finish, and the sage tone reads as dusty and faded rather than bright or emerald. It sits on the same glossy white ceramic body used across the range, with a steel base and neck collar finished in aged brass at the foot and where the shade meets the fitting. It is the version to choose if you want colour in the room without that colour being the first thing anyone notices.

How it works

A single E27 bulb sits behind the shade on a Class I fitting. Fit an LED bulb (not supplied) and it lights the room with a soft, even glow rather than a hard beam, and dims nicely if the bulb itself is a dimmable one.

Where it works best

Standing 64cm tall with a 36cm shade, Isla has the scale to hold its own on a sideboard or console table, and works just as well beside a bed where ambient light matters more than something bright enough to read by. It suits living rooms, dining rooms and hallways too, anywhere a single warm pool of light is more useful than an overhead one.

Does the Isla table lamp come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 bulb, and we'd recommend an LED, but the bulb itself is not included.

Can I dim the Isla table lamp? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch or dimmable lamp holder.
