A half lantern for a tight wall fit

The Holborn half lantern takes the shape of a full glazed exterior lantern and flattens the back, so it can sit close against brick or render rather than projecting out on an arm. Viewed from the front it still reads as a complete lantern, slatted top and glazed sides included, just without the depth of a hanging fitting.

Brushed Brass finish

This size is finished in Brushed Brass, a warmer and more matte tone than a polished metal, with a fine directional grain visible across the frame. Slatted brass bars run along the top of the case, above clear glass panels on the front and sides that let the two lamps inside show through.

How It Works

Two E14 lamp holders sit side by side inside the case, so light spills out through the glass front and sides rather than in a single beam. Fit LED candle bulbs, dimmable ones if you would like the option of a quieter glow later in the evening, though bulbs aren't supplied with the fitting. As a wired exterior fitting, we always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Where It Works Best

The flat back makes this size useful anywhere a projecting lantern would be awkward: close beside a front door, in a recessed porch, or at a gateway. It's rated IP44, so it stands up to typical rain and splashing, and it holds its own fitted as a pair either side of an entrance.

Is the Holborn half lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's IP44 rated, so it copes with typical rain and splashing at a front door, porch or gateway.

Does the Holborn half lantern come with bulbs? No. It takes two E14 lamp holders and bulbs aren't supplied, so you can choose LED candle bulbs in the brightness and colour temperature you prefer.

Can this lantern sit flush against a wall? Yes. Unlike a full lantern, the Holborn half lantern has a flattened back designed to sit close to brick or render, which is useful where a projecting fitting would catch on a door or gate.
