A window shaped lantern for the wall
The Hereford lantern hangs beneath a curled black bracket topped with a small crown, dropping the lantern body just below the fixing point so it reads as a piece in its own right rather than an add on. Its glass is divided into four panes by a crossbar, giving it the look of a small leaded window rather than a plain glass tube.
Solid black with seeded glass
Cast in die cast aluminium and finished in solid black, the lantern has a gently domed roof sitting above the crossbarred glass panel. The glass itself is seeded, meaning it carries a light, bubbled texture that softens the light rather than throwing a hard, even beam.
How It Works
A single E27 lamp holder sits inside the lantern. The bulb itself is not included, so you can choose an LED lamp to suit the space, and fit a dimmable one if you want it to work on a dimmer circuit. The fitting carries a Class I electrical rating, meaning it needs an earthed supply, so we would always recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.
Where It Works Best
Its cottage proportions and crossbarred glass suit stone or brick fronted period homes particularly well, whether fitted as a single lantern beside a front door or repeated at intervals along a garden or boundary wall. Because the light is directed downward, it also works well over a porch step or path edge where you want practical light rather than a purely decorative glow.

Does the Hereford lantern come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb which is not included, so you can choose an LED lamp with the brightness and warmth you prefer.
Can the Hereford lantern be used with a dimmer switch? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb will not dim even if wired to a dimmer circuit.
