The Hereford single wall down lantern pairs a familiar scrollwork glass cylinder with a dramatically shaped cast bracket, so the arm and backplate carry as much character as the lantern head itself. It's built for a front wall or porch where you want the fitting noticed, not just the light it throws.

Black die cast aluminium, clear glass

Every visible surface, from the ornamental backplate down to the scrollwork cage, is finished in a deep matte black die cast aluminium. Behind the ironwork sits a cylinder of clear glass, so the lamp inside stays fully visible rather than diffused.

How It Works

The lantern head hangs from the underside of the bracket's arm, angling light downward and outward from a single E27 lamp holder. Fit your own dimmable LED lamp and the light responds smoothly to a dimmer switch; a standard lamp will simply switch on and off. Being Class I, it needs to be properly earthed, so we'd always recommend a qualified electrician handles the install.

Where It Works Best

Hereford suits front walls, side entrances and porches, anywhere you want the fitting itself to register as a feature rather than disappear once the sun goes down. It's rated IP23, which suits a covered or recessed spot, such as beneath a porch roof or door canopy, better than a fully exposed elevation that takes driving rain head on. Does the Hereford wall lantern come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 lamp, so fit your own LED lamp, ideally a dimmable one if you want to use it with a dimmer switch.
