Elstead Helsingor Single Wall Lantern - Silver

The Helsingor takes its shape from the tiered pagoda lanterns that line Scandinavian harboursides. A stacked steel hood sits above an open cage of horizontal louvres, wrapped around a clear seeded glass cylinder that lets the bulb show through on every side rather than hiding it behind a solid shade.

Finish

This version comes in a cool silver grey rather than Elstead's usual black, giving the fitting a more metallic, contemporary look. It reads particularly well against pale render, natural stone and grey brick, and suits a modern build as readily as a period one.

How It Works

Fit a single E27 bulb inside the glass cylinder and the tiered louvres above and below shield the lamp from rain while still letting light spill out at the sides and downward onto a doorstep or path. The fitting will dim if you fit a dimmable bulb, though the bulb itself is not included.

Where It Works Best

Its IP44 rating and tiered hood make it a good fit for front doors, side passages, garden walls and other exposed exterior spots, and it copes well in coastal locations where salt air and driving rain are a regular test for outdoor fittings.

Helsingor comes from Elstead, a British decorative lighting group and distributor whose roots trace back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which remains led by the Lucas family today.
