Elstead Helsingor Single Bollard Lantern - Black

A Danish lantern built for the path, not the porch

Helsingor takes its cue from Scandinavian harbour lighting: a stepped black canopy sits above a clear glass cylinder, with the bulb held on show rather than hidden away. It stands on a slim metre high post, finished on a round base plate so it can be fixed straight into a path, driveway edge or border.

Stainless steel, powder coated black

Underneath the black finish is 304 grade stainless steel, powder coated for extra durability against the weather. The canopy is layered in stepped tiers over a caged glass cylinder, a shape borrowed from harbour side lanterns that were built to keep a flame or bulb lit in open, salt laden air.

How It Works

It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which is not included, and will dim if you fit a dimmable one. Wiring runs up through the post to the lantern head, and the fitting carries a Class I electrical rating, so it should be earthed and connected by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

Spaced along a driveway, marking the edge of a path, or standing at intervals around a patio or terrace, where its height throws light down and out rather than up into your eyes. Its IP44 rating and stainless steel body make it a sound choice for coastal or otherwise exposed gardens, where wind and rain driven off the sea can be harder on a fitting than a sheltered courtyard.
