Elstead Grampian Single Pedestal Lantern - Black

A short pillar light for gateposts and low walls

Rather than a tall lamp post, the Grampian pedestal is a squat fitting on a stepped square plinth, made for sitting on top of a wall, pier or gatepost. The same hexagonal lantern head tops it, complete with acorn finial and scrolled brackets under the roof edges, so it reads as part of the same family as the taller posts without needing the height.

Solid black, clear glass all round

Cast aluminium throughout and finished in black, with plain clear glass on every face of the lantern rather than tinted or leaded panels. There is a wiring access door built into the head, and the plinth base has a flat underside meant for fixing straight onto masonry.

How it works

One bulb sits inside on a central holder, roughly 79cm up from the base, so the light sits at a useful height for a low wall or gatepost rather than towering over it like a full post would.

Where it works best

It suits the entrance to a driveway, either side of a gate, or along the top of a boundary wall, where a full height lamp post would look out of scale. Two of them either side of a gateway give a matched pair without the bulk of a proper post either side.
