Elstead Grampian Single Pedestal Lantern - Black

A pillar light built for gateposts and low walls

Grampian trades the height of a full lamp post for something squatter and more architectural: a hexagonal lantern head on a short, stepped plinth, designed to sit directly on a pier, gatepost or the coping of a garden wall. The acorn finial and scrolled roof brackets keep the same look as the taller posts in the Grampian range, just without the height.

Cast aluminium in a solid black finish

The lantern head, plinth and looped stem are all cast aluminium, finished in a flat black rather than a painted or powder coated gloss. Every pane of glass around the hexagon is plain and clear, with no leading or tinting, so light spreads evenly rather than being broken up by pattern. A small hinged door is built into the head for wiring access.

How It Works

A single E27 bulb sits on a central holder inside the lantern, around 79cm above the base, putting the light at a useful height for a wall top or gatepost rather than towering over it. The bulb isn't included, so you can choose your own, and the fitting will work with a dimmer switch if you fit a dimmable one. The plinth's underside is flat and designed for fixing straight onto masonry.

Where It Works Best

Grampian suits spots where a full height lamp post would be out of scale: the piers either side of a driveway gate, the top of a low boundary wall, or a single gatepost at the start of a path. Fitted as a pair either side of an entrance, it reads as a matched set without the bulk of two full posts.
