Elstead Frida Single Wall Light - Graphite

A banded glow for the outside wall

Three curved graphite bars wrap around a clear cylindrical lens, breaking the light into stripes rather than one flat wash. It's the kind of shadow pattern you only get from a fitting built around gaps and rings rather than a plain shade, and it shows up as clearly on the wall beside it as it does through the glass.

The three bars are die cast aluminium, finished in a dark graphite that reads almost black once it's mounted. They sit proud of a clear polycarbonate lens, spaced so light spills out through the gaps between them and up onto the wall around the fitting. Behind it, a square backplate keeps the whole light sitting flush and close to the wall rather than projecting far out from it.

How It Works

A single E27 bulb sits inside the lens, visible through the gaps between the bars, so the light reads as bands rather than an even glow. The bulb isn't included, so you'll need to fit one before use. Choose a dimmable bulb and the fitting will respond to a dimmer switch, taking it from a low glow by a doorway to something brighter when you need it.

Where It Works Best

Frida is rated IP54, so it's built to cope with rain and outdoor weather rather than needing a sheltered spot. That makes it a natural fit either side of a front door, on a garage wall, or spaced along a garden boundary or fence line, anywhere you want a fitting that throws some visual interest as well as light.

Elstead Lighting

Frida is part of the Elstead Lighting collection, a British lighting group whose history traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which remains led by the same Lucas family today. This Graphite finish is the larger of two sizes in the range, with a smaller Frida wall light also available for tighter spots.

Does the Frida wall light come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to fit one before it can be used.

Is the Frida wall light suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP54 and built from die cast aluminium, so it's designed for exterior walls rather than indoor use.

Can I dim the Frida wall light? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even on a compatible circuit.
