A quiet marker of light for outdoor walls

The Freyr square wall light is a small, angular fitting built to sit close against a wall and send its light downward, more of a discreet path marker than a showpiece. Its hooded profile and clean square lines make it as much at home lining a driveway as flanking a front door.

Finish

The body is die cast aluminium, powder coated in a dark graphite that stays matte and weather resistant outdoors. A sloped hood sits above a horizontally ribbed polycarbonate lens, the ribbing breaking up the light so it spreads evenly across the lens rather than glaring straight out.

How it works

A single 6W integrated LED runs behind the lens, producing a warm 3000K glow at around 260 lumens, so there is no bulb to buy or ever need to replace. The hood above the lens shields the LED from direct view and keeps the light travelling down and out rather than spilling upward, which is exactly the effect this style of fitting is designed for.

Where it works best

At 15cm square and just 7.2cm deep, Freyr sits flat and unobtrusive, making it well suited to lining a path, marking steps, or pairing either side of an entrance. Rated IP54, it is built to handle rain and damp conditions, so it copes as well on an exposed gable wall as it does under a sheltered porch.

Is the Freyr wall light suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP54, meaning it's protected against dust and against splashing water from any direction, so it copes well fitted to an exterior wall.

Can I replace the bulb in the Freyr wall light? No. Its 6W LED is integrated into the fitting rather than fitted in a separate lamp holder, so there's no bulb to source or swap out over its lifetime.

Is the Freyr wall light dimmable? No. It runs at a fixed 6W output and is not compatible with a dimmer switch.

Does the Freyr wall light need professional installation? Yes. As a hardwired exterior fitting it should be installed by a qualified electrician, in line with Elstead's guidance for outdoor lighting.
