Somewhere between a cocktail shaker and a shooting star, the Etoile pendant plays with proportion in a way that is hard to place until you see it hanging. A tapered brass cone drops from a slender rod, interrupted partway down by a small star cast in a gold leaf finish that catches the light as the fixture turns.

Finish

This medium version is finished in aged brass, a warm, lightly burnished tone that runs across the ceiling rose, rod and cone shade. The inside of the shade is painted gold, so the pendant throws a soft golden wash downward once lit, while the star on the rod stands out in its own contrasting gold leaf.

How it works

One E27 bulb sits inside the cone, angled so light is sent down and out rather than glaring upward. The flex can be trimmed on site, giving a drop anywhere between 65.4cm and 156.8cm, so the medium size can be set to suit rooms with higher or lower ceilings.

Where it works best

At 17.8cm across its widest point, the shade is narrow enough to hang in a cluster of two or three at staggered heights above a kitchen island or breakfast bar. A single pendant also works well beside a dining table or on a landing, wherever a slim, sculptural shape matters more than a wide spread of light.

Etoile is one of the more playful designs from Elstead Lighting, a British decorative lighting group and distributor with roots tracing back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and still led by the same family today. This medium pendant is also made in a smaller size, and in matte black with the same gold leaf star, for anyone mixing sizes or finishes along one run.

Can I adjust how low the Etoile pendant hangs? Yes. The flex is trimmed on site, so the medium size can be set anywhere from 65.4cm to 156.8cm below the ceiling, which covers most standard and higher ceilings.

Is the Etoile pendant dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch.
