Douille's curved arm and weighted base carry over from the original design, but this version pushes the two tone finish further: a matte black stem, arm and base set against polished brass at the lamp holder, finial and collar. The bulb sits exposed under an angled glass shade rather than hidden away, so the contrast reads through the fitting itself as much as through the finish.

The main body is steel, finished in a flat matte black that keeps the curved arm and stem looking substantial rather than delicate. Polished brass picks out the lamp holder, the small finial at the top of the stem and the collar where the base meets the upright, so the warmth of the metal shows through at just the points where the eye naturally lands. The shade is clear ribbed glass, angled downward over the bulb so the vertical fluting catches the light rather than diffusing it.
How It Works
Douille takes a single E27 bulb, wired as a Class I fitting, and dims if you fit a dimmable bulb on a compatible circuit. There's no separate shade to lift off or clip on, the glass sits fixed over the lamp holder, and the whole thing runs from a plug rather than a hardwired connection. The base is a solid, weighted disc, heavy enough that the lamp stands on its own without clamping to the table.
Where It Works Best
The height and reach of the arm make it a good desk or console lamp, tall enough to throw light across a work surface without the shade sitting right at eye level.
