A cooler take on a familiar shape

The Douille pendant keeps its lampholder, ribbed glass shade and exposed filament bulb on show, but this version trades the warmth of brass or black for the brighter shine of polished nickel. It is the same silhouette as the rest of the range, just pitched at a different palette, closer to chrome and steel than to old brass and leather.

Polished nickel and ribbed glass

The lampholder and ceiling rose are finished in polished nickel, a mirror bright plating over a brass base that gives the metalwork real shine rather than the softer glow of an aged finish. The flex is a pale, twisted cord rather than the black or gold used on other Douille finishes, and the shade itself is clear ribbed glass, moulded with fine vertical lines that catch the light and let the bulb's filament show through.

How It Works

The pendant takes a single E27 bulb, wired as a Class I fitting, and works with a dimmer switch as long as a dimmable bulb is fitted. It comes with 2m of twisted flex, trimmed to length on installation, so the final drop is set to suit your ceiling rather than fixed at the factory. The ceiling rose, lampholder and shade all arrive ready to wire in; only the bulb is left for you to choose.

Where It Works Best

The cooler tone suits kitchens and dining spaces where steel, chrome or nickel already appear elsewhere, on taps, handles or other light fittings nearby. Hung singly it works well over a small table or in a reading corner; run in a row it suits a kitchen island or a long dining table, where a line of matching pools of light reads as considered rather than accidental.

The Douille design borrows its lampholder shape from early domestic light fittings, reworked here in a brighter, more contemporary finish for a fixture that nods to the past without asking you to commit to a fully vintage kitchen.

Does it come with a bulb? No, the Douille pendant takes one E27 bulb which is not included, so you can choose the shape and warmth of light that suits the ribbed glass shade.

Can I use it with a dimmer switch? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb; the fitting itself works with dimmer switches.
