A short pedestal lantern for gateposts and low walls

The Cleveland Single Small Pedestal Lantern sits on a fluted, tapering base rather than a tall post, making it better suited to a low wall, a gatepost or a pillar than to standing alone in open ground. The lantern head has the same curved glass and finial detailing as the rest of the Cleveland range, just mounted closer to the ground.

It is cast in aluminium and finished in weathered bronze, with the soft aged tone built into the metal rather than sprayed on top, and the glass is clear seeded glass, bubbled and slightly uneven so it scatters the light rather than showing a single bright bulb.

How it works

A single lamp sits inside the lantern, throwing light out through the seeded glass in every direction rather than down a narrow beam. Because it sits low, it lights the immediate area around it well, more a marker light than something meant to carry across a long driveway.

Where it works best

Well suited to gate piers, the top of a low garden wall, either side of a shallow entrance, or anywhere a taller lamp post would look out of scale. It fixes down through a square base plate, so it needs a solid pillar or wall top to sit on rather than open soil.
