Some artwork gets lost under general room lighting, and some deserves a fitting all of its own. The Chawton is built for that job, a slim faceted shade on two adjustable arms that directs light down over a picture, mirror or map rather than spilling it across the whole wall. At 40.2cm wide, this medium size suits a mid sized frame or a tight grouping of smaller ones.

Polished brass finish

Polished brass here means a genuine high shine finish, mirror bright rather than brushed or aged, with crisp faceted edges along the shade that catch and throw back the light. It reads as jewellery for the wall as much as a light fitting, so it suits rooms where the metalwork is meant to be noticed rather than hidden.

How It Works

The shade connects to the wall plate through two knuckle jointed arms, each one adjustable so you can angle the light forward, down, or slightly to one side. Once you have found the right position for the frame beneath it, the joints hold firm, with no drifting back to a default angle over time. It takes two E14 bulbs, which need to be LED, and these are not supplied with the fitting.

Questions People Ask

Are bulbs included with the Chawton picture light? No. It takes two E14 bulbs, which need to be LED, and these are sold separately.

Can I adjust the angle of the light once it is fitted? Yes. Each arm has its own knuckle joint, so you can angle the shade forward, down or to the side, and once set the joints hold their position without drifting back.

Is the Chawton picture light dimmable? It is dimmable, but only when fitted with dimmable E14 LED bulbs. A standard non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch.

Does Chawton come in other sizes or finishes? Yes. The range spans three sizes and five finishes, including aged and black metals alongside polished brass, so you can match the fitting to the frame and room it is lighting.
