Picture lights have one job: throw a clean wash of light down the face of a painting or print without washing out the colours or glaring back into the room. The Chawton does that with a slim, angled shade that channels light forward and down rather than out. In this medium size it spans 40.2cm, enough to cover a mid sized canvas or a run of smaller frames grouped together.
Dark bronze finish
The dark bronze finish has a warm, streaked patina rather than a flat coat, so it catches the light differently depending on the angle, closer to aged metalwork than a modern paint job. Paired with the mild steel body, it has the kind of weight that feels intentional on the wall rather than an afterthought.
How It Works
Two jointed arms carry the shade out from a rectangular wall plate, and each joint can be loosened, angled and locked back down. That means you can tip the light forward over a deep frame, tuck it in close to a flat canvas, or swing it slightly off centre if your artwork isn't hung dead level. Two E14 holders sit inside the shade; bulbs aren't included, so you can fit your own choice of LED bulb.

Can the Chawton be angled to suit a specific painting? Yes. Both arm joints loosen, angle and lock back down, so the shade can tip forward over a deep frame, sit close to a flat canvas, or offset slightly if the artwork isn't hung perfectly level.
Are bulbs included with the Chawton picture light? No. It takes two E14 bulbs, which aren't supplied, so you can fit LED bulbs in the colour temperature and dimming behaviour you prefer.
Is the Chawton dark bronze finish dimmable? Yes, as long as dimmable E14 bulbs are fitted. A bulb that isn't dimmable won't respond to a dimmer switch circuit.
