A dome that sits close and quiet
The Brompton keeps a low profile, its shallow glass bowl held in place by a ribbed brass surround that catches the light in horizontal lines. There's no drop, no swing, just a neat curve of glass against the ceiling, which makes it a natural pick for anyone who wants period detail without the overhead clutter of a pendant.
Polished brass and opal glass
The banded ring is steel dressed in a bright, mirror finish polished brass, and it wraps around an opal glass diffuser that stays softly white even when the light beneath is on. Together they give the fitting a warm, rounded glow rather than a hard downward beam.
How it works
It takes a single GX53 LED lamp, and if you fit a dimmable version you can dim it, though it's worth checking your dimmer switch is compatible before you buy the bulb.
Where it works best
Rated IP44, the Brompton can handle steam and occasional splashes, so it copes well in bathrooms and ensuites, even in zones near a bath or shower. The same flat shape also works nicely in a hallway or landing where ceiling height is tight.
