A ring lifted from an old manor hall

The Belfry 3 Light Chandelier takes its shape from wrought ironwork found in old manor halls and farmhouse kitchens, a solid ring frame carried on twisted scrollwork legs, with a small forged rose set into the band where two of the arms meet. Three curved arms rise up and over the ring to hold candle style bulb holders spaced around its edge.

Black finish

A deep matte black is worked into every curve of the ring, the scrollwork legs and the rose detail, so nothing sits glossy or reflective under the bulbs. The finish reads as a single dark silhouette from a distance, while up close the twisted ironwork of the legs and the raised petals of the rose still catch enough light to show their shape.

How it works

Three E14 candle style lamp holders are spaced evenly around the ring, sending light outward and down rather than concentrating it in one central glare. Fit dimmable E14 bulbs and the fitting can be taken from a bright, even spread down to a low evening glow. It hangs from a chain that can be shortened at installation, and the fixing converts to a semi flush mount for rooms where ceiling height is limited.

Where it works best

The ring sits low and wide, so it wants a surface underneath that it can be seen from below, a farmhouse dining table, a kitchen island, or a breakfast bar. Rooms with some height, an exposed beam, a vaulted ceiling, or a hallway with a generous drop, let the full 82cm maximum drop and the ironwork legs be seen properly rather than crowding a low ceiling.

Elstead Lighting

The Belfry range comes from Elstead Lighting, a British lighting brand based at The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and still led by the Lucas family today. The wrought iron look carried through this ring design also runs across matching wall and table versions in the Belfry range, so the same scrollwork and rose detailing can be repeated elsewhere in the same room or scheme.

Can I fit the Belfry 3 Light Chandelier as a semi flush light on a low ceiling? Yes. The fitting converts from a pendant hung on chain to a semi flush mount, so it still works well in rooms where ceiling height is limited.

Does the Belfry 3 Light Chandelier come with bulbs? No. It takes three E14 candle style bulbs, which are not included, so you can choose the colour temperature and finish that suits your fittings.
