A Lantern Built To Hang, Not Stand
Most of the Baltimore range stands on a post or bolts flat to a wall, but this large chain lantern is built to hang instead, dropping from the ceiling on an adjustable chain. The shape borrows from old Victorian street lamps, tapered glass sides rising to a leaf finial, with acanthus scrolls curling out at the crown and base.
Weathered Bronze Finish
The cast steel frame is finished in Weathered Bronze, a near black base with copper and bronze worn into the scrollwork, the leaf trim and the fluted chain links, so the ornamentation catches the light rather than sitting flat. Behind the frame, four panels of amber tinted, gently rippled glass give the single bulb a warmer, textured glow after dark.
How It Works
One E27 lamp holder sits inside the lantern, with a bulb to be fitted separately rather than supplied in the box. The chain itself adjusts from a 65cm minimum drop out to 225.5cm, so the lantern can sit tight under a low porch roof or hang further down an open portico. Fit a dimmable bulb and it will respond to a dimmer switch if one is wired in.
Where It Works Best
It suits a covered entrance, the underside of a porch canopy, or any spot where you'd normally reach for a wall light but would rather have something hanging centrally overhead. At 30cm wide and 57.5cm from crown to base, it has enough scale to read clearly from the street, and being rated IP23 it's built for a sheltered outdoor spot rather than one left open to driving rain.

Can the Baltimore chain lantern be hung outdoors uncovered? It's rated IP23, which covers protection against water spraying from an angle, so it's best suited to a covered porch, portico or canopy rather than a spot left fully open to driving rain.
Does it come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 bulb, which isn't supplied, so you can choose the tone and brightness that suits the spot it's hanging in.
