A wall light that leans out from the wall

The Balance single wall light does not sit flush against its backplate. A slim angled arm carries the drum shade out and down, so the fitting throws its light below rather than reading as a flat panel on the wall. It is compact in scale, standing under 24cm tall, but the projecting arm gives it more presence than a standard bracket light.

Brown and polished brass

The circular backplate and angled arm are finished in a matte mocha brown, broken up by a polished brass sleeve where the arm bends and a second brass ring at the top of the shade. The drum shade itself is a soft brown fabric, lined inside in gold, so the light spilling out from underneath reads warm rather than white.

How It Works

One E27 LED lamp holder sits inside the shade. The bulb itself is not included, so you can fit whichever E27 lamp suits the room, choosing a dimmable one if you want to use it on a dimmer circuit. The fitting is wired to Class I standard and is designed to be hardwired, so we recommend a qualified electrician handles installation.

Where It Works Best

Fitted in pairs either side of a bed, it does the work of bedside lamps without taking up any surface space at all. It suits a hallway or landing just as well, flanking a mirror or marking a turn in the stairs, and it adds a low, warm layer of light to a living room or dining room wall where a single overhead pendant leaves the corners dark.

The Balance range reflects the traditional and transitional lighting design the brand has long built its catalogue around, updated here with a contemporary matte and brass finish. Is the Balance wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.
