Elstead Balance Single Wall Light - Brown & Polished Brass

A small shade that steps away from the wall

Rather than sitting flush against a backplate, this wall light carries its drum shade out on an angled arm, giving it depth and a bit of shadow even before it's switched on. It's a compact fitting, but the projecting arm gives it more presence than a standard flush bracket light.

Mocha brown and polished brass

The backplate and arm are finished in a matte mocha brown, picked out with a polished brass sleeve at the elbow and another brass ring where the arm meets the shade. Inside, the fabric shade is lined in gold, so the light thrown from underneath reads warm rather than white.

How it works

One E27 lamp sits inside, dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs, and it's wired to Class I standard. The whole fitting stands 23.7cm tall and projects 26cm from the wall, with a 16cm shade, so allow a little clearance either side once it's mounted.

Where it works best

Fitted in pairs either side of a bed, it does the job of bedside lamps without using any surface space at all. It's equally suited to flanking a hallway mirror, adding low level light to a living room, or lighting a dining room wall where a single pendant leaves the corners dark.

Matched to the rest of the range

It shares its finish with the Balance pendant and table lamp, making it straightforward to mix pieces across a room. Elstead has produced this kind of traditional and transitional lighting from its Hampshire base for a long time.
