A shade held out, not stacked on top
Most table lamps sit the shade directly above the base. The Balance lamp does something different, carrying its drum out to one side on a horizontal brass arm, so the light appears to hover just past the upright stem rather than sitting squarely on it.
Mocha brown with polished brass fittings
The stem and round foot share the same matte mocha brown as the shade, while polished brass marks out the crossbar, the base collar and the fitting that holds the bulb. Inside, the shade is lined in gold, so once it is lit the underside glows warm rather than plain white.
How It Works
A single E27 bulb powers it, dimmable if a dimmable bulb is fitted, and the whole lamp is double insulated to Class II, so there is no earth connection to worry about. The bulb sits inside a smoked glass holder on the crossbar, out in the open rather than hidden inside the shade, so the light source itself becomes part of the look when the lamp is on.
Where It Works Best
The reach of the arm makes it a good match for a console table, a sideboard, or the spot beside an armchair, where the angled shade can throw light exactly where you are reading. Because the shade sits off to one side rather than straight above the base, give it a little more surface space than a lamp with a straight profile. It works comfortably in a living room or bedroom, and brings something a little different to a hallway table too.

Does the Balance table lamp come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 bulb, sold separately, so you can choose the warmth and dimmability that suits the room.
Can I dim the Balance table lamp? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A standard non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch.
How much space does the offset shade need? A little more than a straight profile lamp. The shade reaches out to 46.9cm from the base, so allow that clearance on a console table or sideboard.
Is there a matching pendant or wall light? Yes. The same mocha brown and polished brass finish runs through the Balance pendant and wall light, so you can continue the look elsewhere in the room.
