A drum shade with a bit of contrast

The Balance pendant hangs a wide white fabric drum shade from a slim black rod, with polished nickel fittings picking out the joins along the way. It's a clean, understated shape that leans modern, but the metallic accents stop it feeling too plain.

Finish

Black and polished nickel is a pairing that reads as much more contemporary than the traditional brass and chrome finishes elsewhere in our lighting range, and it sits comfortably in newer builds or recently renovated rooms. The white laminate lining inside the shade also helps bounce light back down into the room.

How it works

It takes a single E27 bulb, and because the shade is open at both top and bottom, light spreads both upward toward the ceiling and downward into the room, giving a fuller spread than a fully enclosed shade would.

Where it works best

The rod is adjustable from a shallow 33.4cm drop up to 123.4cm, so it suits anything from a low ceiling to a stairwell or double height hallway. At 45.5cm across, it's substantial enough to work as a central feature over a dining table or in a living room.
