Built to vanish against a pale wall

Paint a wall white and most fittings still stand out as objects on it. The Alton in white does not: a slim tube on a slender curved arm, finished to match rather than contrast, so what is left is mostly the light itself rather than the fixture producing it.

A true matte white

The finish is flat and consistent across backplate, arm and bar, close enough to a standard white wall to sit quietly against gallery walls, panelled hallways or a freshly painted room without introducing a new colour into the mix.

How it works

An integrated LED strip runs along the underside of the bar and casts a broad, even wash of warm white light down over whatever sits beneath it. The arm articulates out from the wall and the bar itself tilts, so the light can be aimed properly rather than left pointing wherever it happens to sit.

Where it works best

Framed art and photography are the natural fit, but it is equally at home over a run of shelving or a display cabinet where even light matters more than drama. This large size suits wider frames, throwing light out to both edges instead of leaving them dim.

Alton comes in two sizes and a spread of finishes, white being the one built to disappear rather than stand out. It is designed by Elstead, a British lighting company based in Alton, Hampshire, whose collections lean toward traditional and transitional interiors.
