Light thrown up the wall, not out into the room
This wall light sits flat against the wall and opens outward and upward, so instead of shining forward it washes light up the surface behind it. It's a different job to most of the Alderley range, more about mood lighting a wall than lighting a task.
Vintage bronze frame, ivory and aqua art glass
The dark vintage bronze leading forms a half cone shade, really half of the geometric fan you'll see on the wider Alderley range, split down the middle so it sits flush against a wall. Pale ivory panels spread out from a central point, met by narrow aqua stripes and a diamond of textured, mirror bright glass right in the middle where the two halves meet.
How It Works
Two E14 bulbs sit inside, hidden from direct view, so what you see is the glow diffusing through the ivory and aqua glass panels rather than the bulbs themselves. That central diamond of textured glass catches and scatters the light once it's lit, breaking up what would otherwise be a fairly flat wash.
Where It Works Best
Works well either side of a fireplace, flanking a hallway, or spaced along a landing or bedroom wall where you want gentle uplighting rather than a strong reading light.

Does this wall light shine outward like a normal wall light? No. It's an uplighter, so the half shade opens upward and washes light up the wall behind it rather than out into the room, which makes it better for mood lighting than for reading by.
Does it come with bulbs? No. It takes two E14 bulbs and none are supplied, so choose dimmable E14 bulbs if you want to use it on a dimmer switch.
Can this be dimmed? Yes, as long as it's fitted with dimmable bulbs and used on a compatible dimmer switch.
Is there any assembly needed when it arrives? Yes, there's some simple assembly to complete before it's fixed to the wall, but nothing beyond what's typical for a wall light of this style.
