A cooler spin on a classic silhouette

Aegean's double scroll arms and crystal drops look just as considered in polished nickel as they do in Elstead's warmer finishes, but the bright, reflective plating gives the whole piece a cooler, more contemporary edge. Every curl of the scrollwork, the cut crystal drip pans and the faceted droplet on the twisted finial are the same design, just cast in a different light.

Underneath the plating this is a steel fitting, finished with a bright polished nickel that mirrors light rather than absorbing it the way an aged or antiqued finish would. The scrollwork keeps a crisp, reflective edge from every angle, and the cut crystal drip pans and hanging droplets add sparkle without competing with the metalwork.

How It Works

Two E14 candle style arms curl out from a central backplate, each rising to a cut crystal drip pan that holds the bulb and catches light bouncing off the crystal droplet hanging just below it. A twisted crystal finial hangs from the centre of the backplate, adding sparkle even when the light isn't on. It's wired as a wall light, though Elstead notes it can be adapted to sit flush on a ceiling instead if that suits the room better. Fit dimmable E14 bulbs and it will dim on a compatible dimmer switch. As a Class I fitting it needs an earthed connection, so we'd always recommend a qualified electrician handles the install.

Where It Works Best

The cool, silvery tone of polished nickel suits rooms already leaning grey, white or cool toned, a pale hallway, a bedroom with a soft neutral palette, or a dining room where you want the fitting to read as understated rather than golden and warm. Wired singly or in a pair, it works either side of a bed or mirror, or spaced along a hallway wall.

Can the Aegean wall light be converted to a ceiling fitting? Elstead notes that it can be adapted to sit flush on a ceiling instead of a wall, though it's wired as a wall light as standard.

Is the Aegean wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. A non dimmable bulb won't dim even on a compatible circuit.

Do I need an electrician to install it? Yes. As a Class I fitting wired directly into the wall, it needs an earthed connection, so we always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.
