A hand shaped iron blossom
Magic Garden takes the form of a single layered flower, its petals cut and shaped from iron rather than moulded or cast, then finished by hand. Two rows of curled, scalloped petals wrap around a rounded centre disc, sitting flush to the wall like a piece of botanical relief rather than a conventional sconce. Corbett has said the collection's petal shapes were inspired by the camellia flower Coco Chanel was famously drawn to, though the finished piece here reads as its own abstract, sculptural take on a bloom rather than a literal recreation.
Black, Graphite & Bronze Leaf finish
The outer ring of petals is finished in a deep, satin black graphite tone, while the inner petals and central disc are warmed by a bronze leaf finish with a soft brushed texture. Seen together, the two tones give the flower real depth and dimension against a wall, and the warmer bronze centre pairs naturally with brass, gold or aged brass fittings nearby.
How it works
A single G9 bulb, up to 20W, sits behind the petals and washes the wall around it with soft, ambient light rather than throwing a strong direct beam. The fixture measures roughly 7.5 inches (19cm) across and the same in height, mounted flush via a round backplate about 4.5 inches (11cm) in diameter, so it sits close to the wall rather than projecting outward.
Where it works best
Given its compact size and gentle ambient output, Magic Garden works best as an accent rather than a main light source: flanking a mirror, lining a hallway or staircase in a series, or as a single decorative flourish beside a fireplace or console table where its sculptural detail can be appreciated up close.
