A black and gold bloom of light
Ginger looks less like a conventional shade and more like a flower caught mid bloom. Layers of black petals, each shaped like a blade, fan out around the fixture, with a matching petal in gold leaf peeking out from underneath every black one. At the very centre, low down, a single round opal glass globe glows, so the whole arrangement reads as one soft bud of light held inside a ring of black and gold petals.
Gold Leaf and Black finish
Every petal is finished in the same combination: a glossy black face on top, with gold leaf visible along the underside and edges wherever the layers overlap. Seen from below, that gold catches the light from the central globe and warms the whole fixture, while the black keeps the silhouette crisp and graphic. The stem and ceiling canopy continue that same brass tone up to the ceiling.
How it works
Ginger takes a single E27 bulb rated up to 60W. The fixture itself is around 31cm tall and roughly 45cm across at its widest point, with a 17cm round canopy at the ceiling. It can be hung anywhere between 48cm and 155cm from the canopy, making it easy to set the right drop for the space.
Where it works best
Its sculptural, layered shape makes Ginger a natural centrepiece over a dining table or in an entrance hall, somewhere there is room to appreciate the petal detailing from below. Because the light source sits low and central, it gives a warm, focused glow rather than broad room lighting, so it works well alongside other lamps in a living space, or as a striking single feature in a smaller room.
About Corbett
For more than 40 years, Corbett Lighting has been designing fixtures that behave more like statement jewellery than traditional lamps, with a bold, sculptural style the brand describes as its own take on sophisticated, chic design. Corbett belongs to the Hudson Valley Lighting Group family, alongside Mitzi and Troy Lighting, a business with roots stretching back to 1939, when Brooklyn inventor William Littman first began designing fixtures after seeing the fluorescent lighting on show at that year's New York World's Fair. His grandson, David Littman, later founded Hudson Valley Lighting Group itself in the 1980s, carrying that early spark of inspiration forward.
