A vertical rod of frosted glass
The Freeze wall sconce is built around a single tall rod of thick, hand-worked glass that runs the full height of the fixture. Up close the surface is anything but smooth: it is covered in soft, organic ripples and pooling marks, as if the glass had been frozen while still dripping. Light passes through this texture and scatters rather than shining in a straight beam, giving the whole piece a quiet, glowing presence instead of a hard glare.
Gold leaf finish
Midway up the glass rod sits a square gold leaf bracket, the part that actually fixes the sconce to the wall. Its surface is etched with a fine, wavy linear pattern that catches the light differently depending on where you are standing, adding a little movement to what is otherwise a simple silhouette. The warm gold tone sits comfortably alongside brass, aged brass and warm timber, and works just as well against cooler materials like polished nickel or marble, where it becomes the accent rather than blending in.
How it works
Two integrated LED modules sit behind the glass, rated at 6W each (12W in total) and producing a combined 562 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. The fixture measures 55cm tall and 12cm wide, projecting 9cm from the wall on a rectangular backplate measuring roughly 15cm by 12cm. Because the bulbs are integrated, there are no separate lamps to source or swap out later.
Where it works best
Its slim, vertical profile makes the Freeze easy to place somewhere a wider fixture would not fit: either side of a bedroom mirror, flanking a console table, or spaced along a hallway or staircase wall where its narrow footprint will not compete for space. A single sconce works as a quiet accent, while a pair either side of an opening reads as a considered, symmetrical statement.
About Corbett
Corbett Lighting has spent more than four decades turning fixtures into small pieces of sculpture, favouring bold silhouettes and detailing that the brand likens to jewellery rather than plain lighting hardware, part of what it calls its own sophisticated, chic style. It sits within the Hudson Valley Lighting Group family alongside Mitzi and Troy Lighting, a business that traces back to Brooklyn inventor William Littman, who in 1939 was captivated by the fluorescent lighting on display at that year's New York World's Fair. Decades later, his grandson David Littman drew on that same fascination to found Hudson Valley Lighting Group in the 1980s, and Corbett's sculptural pieces continue that thread today.
